Bethany's V.I.A. review; 'When I'm in the situation I can't always think of everything (what's happening in the moment) quick enough. The V.I.A. is quite useful to reflect on what did happen but also what should've happened. Bethany LD(Learner Driver) (Grimsby) April's V.I.A. review; 'It's more like practical/real driving instead of just an explanation - more visual.' April LD (Scunthorpe) Stacey's V.I.A. review; 'I was struggling to visualise position, MSM, etc. The V.I.A. makes it more real and helps me to understand the timings needed and to play out potential risks. When I try it for real - I'm visualising what we did on the V.I.A. board.' Bethany LD (Cleethorpes)

Compact & Convenient

The boards are big enough to feature complex road layouts such as large multi-lane roundabouts with two sizes available:

The larger scale A3 V.I.A. MAX board is robust with a heavy-duty design ideal for prolonged use, most easily stored on the back seat or rear passenger footwell with a quick turn to retrieve. The matching larger vehicles are perfect for exploring detailed understanding of driving situations with precise positioning.

The smaller scale A4 V.I.A. mini board has a more lightweight, compact and slim design which conveniently fits by your side between the seat and door, ready to grab when pulled up at the side of the road. The matching smaller vehicles are ideal for quicker more occasional use such as priority refreshers.

The road layouts are attached to the board with a ring binder (both mini & MAX) so that you can easily flick between plans like a book. Both sides of the board are metallic so there’s no need to remove the plans.

The silver metal hinged car tin (provided with both mini & MAX Kits) is also very compact, easily stored in the glove compartment. The tin contains a whiteboard pen with an eraser and magnetised cars, with large vehicle, pedestrian and motorbike or cyclist options also available.

Magnetic

Magnetic vehicles minimise the frustration of cars rolling off the page and getting lost beneath your seat. Allows you to precisely position numerous vehicles to recreate the exact situation without having to worry about keeping the plan perfectly level.

Whiteboard Pen

Draw or write on the base whiteboard on either side or directly onto the laminated plans to illustrate/emphasise a situation, route or technique. Easily remove the pen marks with no residue using the eraser conveniently attached to the pen.

With a few quick dabs, the pen can also be used to black out the traffic lights to recreate any traffic light combination.

Visual & Interactive

When preparing a pupil for a particular situation using the V.I.A. you can easily set up the car positions on the relevant road layout to show them the hazard. Then you can ask them to show you the risks involved and how to safely deal with it.

If reviewing a serious fault you can ask them to show you how they perceived the situation and reacted to it which may be quite different to what actually happened. Because they can physically move the car it transcends any language or communication barriers which is ideal for people who use English as an additional language or people that struggle to articulate themselves.

It is equally easy for the ADI to then address the root cause of the fault and to show the pupil how to better deal with the situation next time. Because it is visual and interactive the pupil is also far more likely to have a clear understanding of both the problem and the solution and to remember it.
